FocusVision offers programming "CLIPS" designed to help with building Decipher surveys in a few select text editors. The CLIPS allow you to convert a text-based questionnaire to an XML document that can then be uploaded to the Decipher XML Editor.
Decipher CLIPS are available for the following text editors:
The following sections outline the CLIPS installation process for each of these. If you have multiple text editors, we recommend installing Decipher CLIPS on the editor with which you are most familiar.
NoteTab CLIPS Installation
If you have NoteTab (Pro or Light), follow the steps below to install Decipher CLIPS:
- Install Python 2.7
- Download the latest NoteTab CLIPS files from Github (click "Clone or Download", then "Download ZIP")
- Save them to
C:\Program Files (x86)\NoteTab 7\Libraries
- Open NoteTab and select them (the files should show up on the bottom toolbar)
If you do not have NoteTab but would prefer to use this editor for survey programming, click here to download the latest version. While NoteTab Pro includes additional features, we recommend installing NoteTab Light if you will only be using your text editor for survey programming, as it is freeware without a time/use constraint.
