Display Settings


The look of your survey can be modified in the "Display Settings" section.

Accessing the Display Settings

The project settings/summary window allows you to quickly review and adjust the general settings for your survey, including the display settings.  It appears when you create and name a new survey, but can also be accessed from the Survey Editor or portal.

To view the settings for your survey, first click "Project Settings" under "Build" in the project controls menu:


Then select "Display Settings" from the drop-down menu or click the blue "Display Settings" header:

Click "Save" to save any changes made to the display settings for this project. Click the arrow next to the save button to select "Save for this project" or if you'd like the display settings to be the default for future projects, select "Save and set as defaults."


You may brand your survey by selecting a custom logo, or you have the option of choosing not to include a logo. To add a logo to your survey, click the "Add Logo" button. The logo image library appears, where you can select an existing image or upload a new image:


By default, survey logos appear in the top left corner of the survey window. To change this, select the logo and choose a new position from the "Logo Position" drop-down menu. You can also set alternate (ALT) text for the logo using the "Logo Alt Text" input box. For respondents that use a screen reader, the logo ALT text is read when the logo is hovered. Additionally, the alternate text is displayed to respondents if the image cannot be shown (i.e. a missing resource). If left blank, "Logo" is the default for this field.

Once the logo and placement have been set, click "Insert." Inserted logos show in the "Display Settings" menu:


If desired, you can change or remove the logo directly from this menu. If you do make any changes, be sure to save the new settings before exiting the "Display Settings" menu.

Creating and Modifying Support Links


By default, all survey footers contain FocusVision's Privacy Policy and Help links. You can modify these links or create additional footers that display based on sample source, other extra variables defined in your survey, or device type.

To customize the footer links for your survey, either click into the text-box containing the default text or click the "+ Add Custom Support Link" button to create a new footer:


Clicking into a text-box will open the Rich Text Editor with options for font size, format, and color, text alignment, etc.

Note: If you have different support links for different parts of your sample, you can add as many custom support links as you wish by clicking the "+ Add Custom Support Link" button again and specifying which links should show to that sample segment.

Customizing Text

Highlight the text you'd like to modify and use the text editor options to make any changes. Be sure to save the new settings once you're done editing by clicking "Save" at the bottom of the Display Settings window. 

Note: To remove the footer text completely, delete the contents of the text editor and save your changes.

Customizing Links

To modify a link within the survey footer, highlight the hyperlinked text inside the text editor and select the link icon from the Editor toolbar. This brings up a new window where you can modify the URL for the webpage respondents will see, the display and hover text of your link, as well as how the new link will be opened.

Note: Footer links can only be set up to open in a new browser tab.

You can also create additional links by adding your desired text and using the link icon to modify it.

Applying Logic

By default, the survey footer is displayed to every respondent that takes your survey. The logic for this behavior can be seen at the top of the Rich Text Editor, and by default it is set to Show If: 1.

To apply logic to your custom footer, click the pencil icon and add the desired logic. Keep in mind that logic can only be applied based on information already gathered, not off of question answers. For general information about adding logic, click here.

Removing Links

To remove a custom support link, click the "x" icon in the top right corner of the editor.

Form Image Replacement (FIR) 

Note: FIR size settings described below are only shown for surveys with compat levels 128 and below. For surveys with higher compat levels, the themevar fir-size attribute sets the FIR size. Click here for more information.

Allows you to use stylized images instead of browser default radio and checkbox forms. As you make changes to the FIR settings the preview window displays the results.

  • Use FIR Globally:  To use FIR globally, click "On". This setting can be overridden at the question level to enable or disable FIR per question.
  • Style:  Set the style for FIR questions:
    • Rounded: Rounds the corners
    • Square: Squares off the corners
    • Scale: The natural state of the form is small. When a respondent hovers-over the option it scales to a larger size, and once clicked the final form is set.

Set Display of 1-Column Questions

Allows you to choose how 1-column questions are displayed.
