Display Settings

The look of your survey can be modified in the "Display Settings" section.

1: Accessing the Display Settings

The project settings/summary window allows you to quickly review and adjust the general settings for your survey, including the display settings.  It appears when you create and name a new survey. The project summary can also be accessed within the stage , or in the research hub, by selecting "project summary" in the "Build" menu of the project controls.

Click on "Display Settings" to modify the settings for the project.

2: Display Settings Overview

Click "Save" to save any changes made to the display settings for this project. Click on the arrow next to the save button to select "Save for this project" or if you'd like the display settings to be the default for future projects, select "Save and set as defaults."

2.1: Logo

You may brand your survey by selecting a custom logo, or you have the option of choosing not to include a logo.

To add a logo to your survey, click the "Add Logo" button. The logo image library appears. Select an existing image from the library, or upload a new image by selecting "Add Images" and select an image file from your computer.

By default the logo appear in the top left corner of the survey window. To change this, select a new position in the "Logo Position" menu.

Set the alternate  (ALT) text for the logo. For respondents that use a screen reader, the logo ALT text is read when the logo is hovered. Additionally, the alternate text is displayed to respondents if the image cannot be shown (i.e. a missing resource). If left blank, "Logo" is the default for this field.

Once the logo and placement have been set, click "Insert."

The selected logo and position appear in the display settings. Click "change" to edit the logo, or "remove" to remove the logo. Be sure to save the new settings.

2.2: Form Image Replacement (FIR)

Note:  FIR size settings described below are only shown for surveys with compat levels 128 and below.  For surveys with higher compat levels, the themevar fir-size attribute sets the FIR size.  Click here for more information.

Allows you to use stylized images instead of browser default radio and checkbox forms. As you make changes to the FIR settings the preview window displays the results.

  • Use FIR Globally:  To use FIR globally, click "On". This setting can be overridden at the question level to enable or disable FIR per question.
  • Style:  Set the style for FIR questions:
    • Rounded: Rounds the corners
    • Square: Squares off the corners
    • Scale: The natural state of the form is small. When a respondent hovers-over the option it scales to a larger size, and once clicked the final form is set.
  • Size:  Set the size of the answer form:
    • Default: 20px
    • Small: 15px
    • Large: 25px
  • Border Color
  • Base Color
  • Hover Color
  • Selected Color
  • Restore Default FIR Colors:  Click to restore the default settings

2.3: Theme

The theme updates the colors and fonts shown in the respondent view of the survey. To learn how to apply and modify a theme, click here.

2.4: How-To Modify Support Links

From the project display settings, you have the ability to set up or modify the footer of your survey. By default, a Decipher survey’s footer will display FocusVision's Privacy Policy and Help links.

You can also can modify the existing text within the footer of your survey, as well as create additional footers that you can display based on sample source, other extra variables defined in your survey, or device type.

To customize the existing footer links, click the "+ Add Custom Support Link" button. This will open the Rich Text Editor:

Note: If you have different support links for different parts of your sample, you can add as many custom support links as you wish by clicking the "+ Add Custom Support Link" button again and specifying which links should show to that sample segment.

2.4.1: Customizing Text

Highlight the text you want to modify and use the text editor options to make any changes. Be sure to save the new settings once you're done editing the support links. To add custom text or links, you can delete the already existing "Privacy Policy" or "Help" text and add your own.

Note: To remove the footer text completely, delete the contents of the text editor and save your changes.

2.4.2: Customizing Links

To modify an existing link within the survey footer, you can highlight the hyperlinked text inside the text editor and select the “link” icon from the Editor options:

This will bring up a new window which allows you to modify the URL that you want to send respondents to, the display and hover text of your link, as well as how the new link will be opened:

Note: Footer links can only be set up to open in a new browser tab.

You can also create additional links by adding your desired text and using the link icon to modify it.

2.4.3: Applying Logic

By default, the survey footer is displayed to every respondent that takes your survey. The logic for this behavior can be seen at the top of the Rich Text Editor, and by default it is set to Show If: 1.

To apply logic to the custom support footer, click the pencil icon and add the desired logic. Keep in mind that logic can only be applied based on information already gathered, not off of question answers. For general information about adding logic, click here.

2.4.4: Removing a Custom Support Link

To remove a custom support link, click the "x" icon in the top right corner of the editor:

2.5: Set Display of 1-Column Questions

Allows you to choose how 1-column questions are displayed.
