Page Timer Element

1:  Page Timer Overview

Respondents view an ad for a predetermined amount of time, and then proceed automatically to the next page. The timer ad test element utilizes multi-select form with no answer options.

  • Does not utilize Flash
  • Desktop, Tablet and Mobile compatible
    • The image must be mobile-friendly

The following is an example of the page timer element.

2:  Adding a Page Timer Element

Note: You can set the "Show" filter to display only elements that are compatible or optimized for the devices allowed for your project. Click here to learn how to how verify your project settings.

To insert a timer ad test element, add a new survey element, select the "Special Method" tab and choose "Page Timer." Then click "Insert."

Enter the question text into the area provided. Question instructions can be entered in the "Instruction" field.

Tip: Keep the question text short and to the point, so the respondent can read it quickly.

2.1:  Upload the Image

The image file can be uploaded in our file manager, or hosted on a separate domain.

To access the file manager, click on the "Actions" menu and select "Upload System Files." Then click here to find out how to use the file manager and upload your image file.

The image file must be in one of these supported formats:

  • jpeg/jpg
  • png
  • gif

Once uploaded, copy the file name or click on the copy icon to copy it to your clipboard.

At this point you can return to the survey builder. To do this, click on "Build" and select "Edit Survey." Then locate your timer ad test question to continue the setup.

3:  Style Settings

To configure the display settings for the timer ad test element, click the "Style: Timer Ad Test" link.

Configure the settings for the timer ad test element. Additional information about each feature will appear when you mouse-over the text. Click "Preview" to preview the settings. Once the changes are made, click "Save."

Style Option Description
Ad Path (Image)

Enter the file name of the image uploaded to the file manager. You may also provide a full link to the image.

Example:
/survey/[path]/image.png or http://www.domain.com/image.png

Timer Limit (seconds)

Enter a whole number to set the number of seconds that the ad should be displayed.

Example:
If you enter 30, the ad test will advance to the next question after 30 seconds.

Counter Position Allows you to specify the position of the counter bar in relation to the image.
  • Above
  • Below
  • Both (Above & Below)
Show Counter as Number When checked, the counter timer will also display a number timer.
When unchecked, a number timer is not shown with the counter timer.
Primary Counter Color

Allows you to change the color of the shrinking portion of the countdown bar, which indicates the time remaining. Enter a color code, or click on the color wheel to select a color.

Example:
#b7b7b7 makes the shrinking portion of the countdown bar grey.

Secondary Counter Color

Allows you to change the color of the growing portion of the countdown bar, which indicates the time that's gone. Enter a color code, or click on the color wheel to select a color.

Example:
#f4f4f4 makes the growing portion of the countdown bar a very light grey.

Once the question is setup you can preview the element at any time by clicking on "Preview" located at the top right corner of the element. To find out more about previewing an element, click here.

4:  General Options

The options available are located on the right side of the screen. You can set rules for the entire question by clicking near the question text. Each of the following options, when altered, affect all attributes within the element.

  • Label: The label assigned to the element. You may edit the default label for the element here.
  • Type: Displays the element type. You may change the element type to single-select, number, select or text.
  • Show If: Allows you to create new logic conditions or select an existing logic condition for the element. For more information, click here.
  • Languages: Select what languages the element will show in if the survey has multiple languages. The default is "all languages."
