There are a variety of keyboard shortcuts you can use to speed things up while making changes to answer options using the Survey Editor, and these commands differ depending on whether or not you have clicked into a text field.
1: Text Field Shortcuts
The following keyboard shortcuts are available when you click in a question or answer text field (i.e., the RTE - Rich Text Editor - is active):
|Enter, Return or Tab||
Applies the current answer option and creates a new one at the bottom of the list.
If editing an answer option inside a group, the new one is added at the bottom of the group.
|Shift + Tab||
Applies the current answer option and opens the previous answer option (above) for editing.
|Shift + Enter/ Return||Creates a new line within the row or column field.|
|Esc||Applies the answer option, then exits edit mode and leaves the answer field selected.|
2: Regular Shortcuts
The following keyboard shortcuts are available when an answer option is selected, but the text field is not (i.e., the RTE - Rich Text Editor - is NOT active):
|Enter or Return||Opens the selected answer option for editing, placing the text cursor at the end of the text string.|
|Arrow Up or K||Selects the previous answer option.|
|Arrow Down or J||Selects the next answer option.|
|Ctrl/Cmd + Arrow Up or K||
Moves the selected answer option up one position in the list.
If a group exists, the item is moved above the group as if the group was a row item.
Grouped items can only be moved within the group.
|Ctrl/Cmd + Arrow Down or J||
Moves the selected answer option down one position in the list.
If a group exists, the item is moved below the group as if the group was a row item.Grouped items can only be moved within the group.
|Arrow Left or H||
Converts the selected answer option to a group header and the item immediately below is auto-selected.
If the selected answer option is in a group, this removes it from the group, placing the answer option immediately below the group.
|Arrow Right or L||
If the selected answer option is directly below a group, it's added to the group.
If a group header is selected, it's removed from the group and converted into an answer option. All items within the group are un-grouped.
