The Survey Editor allows you to configure the display setting for most basic and interactive elements.
Accessing the Style Editor
To edit the display settings for a survey element, click the "Style: Basic" link for the element:
An example is shown below. Scroll down to view a table with each display setting for all basic question types, including examples for each.
The options available for any given question may vary due to survey layout or question setup.
|User FIR for This Question||Replaces the browser default formatting for radio buttons and checkboxes with a stylized form. Click here for more information.||

|Column legends||(Requires columns) Allows you to choose where the column legend headers appear. By default they appear only at the top of the answer options, but may also appear only at the bottom, or top and bottom. Click here for more information.||
|Custom column legends||(Requires columns) Allows you to customize the placement of column legends. The legend will appear at the top and you may specify a specific row that an additional legend will appear above. Enter the row number (e.g., 7) in the field. For multiple rows,, insert a comma between each (e.g., 5,10). Click here for more information.|
|Column width||(Requires columns) Define custom column widths in pixels. Click here for more information.|
|Row legends||(Requires rows) Allows you to change the position of the answer option text in relation to the response form (e.g., radio button). By default the text appears on the left, but may also appear to the right or both right and left. Click here for more information.||
|Row legend width||(Requires rows) Allows you to customize the width of the row legends in pixels (i.e., the column that contains the answer option text). Click here for more information.|
|Merge below||Will place the question below another question. The question above must have the same number of columns. Click here for more information.|
|Merge right of||Will place the question to the right of another question. The other question must have the same number of rows. Click here for more information.|
|Keep with||When two questions are shown on the same page this allows you to keep the question displayed with the other question if one question is re-displayed (e.g., due to a response error). Click here for more information.|
|Field height||Allows you to define the number of lines in the response field, therefore adjusting the height in text elements. Click here for more information.|
|Field width||Allows you to define the width of the response field in text or number elements. Click here for more information.|
|Form pre-text||Allows you to add a character to the left side of the response field (e.g., $) in text or number elements. Click here for more information.|
|Form post-text||Allows you to add a character to the right side of the response field (e.g., %) in text or number elements. Click here for more information.|
|Mobile Optimization||Determines whether to display the survey in a desktop or mobile-optimized format.|
|Display 1-Column Questions As||Determines whether to render 1-column questions in list or table format.|
