Default Meta Variables

Overview:

Default meta variables store the most essential information for each respondent. This information is used for analysis and debugging purposes, and can be seen when downloading the report.  

Below is a list of all available default meta variables:

Attribute Description
uuid Random 16 character alpha-numeric.
date Completion date of the respondent. local server time.
marker System markers set by the project creator or survey platform. e.g. quotas, data editor, partials.
record Record number of respondent starting from 1.
status Variable that describes the respondent status type. 1=Term, 2=Overquota, 3=Qualified, 4=Partial.
vlist Hidden variable used with sample sources to track the respondent’s sample source.
qtime The amount of time the respondent spent to take the survey (seconds).
vos This identifies the desktop operating system of the respondent. Based off userAgent variable.
vbrowser This identifies the browser of the respondent. Based off userAgent variable.
vmobiledevice This identifies the mobile device category of the respondent. Based off dcua variable.
vmobileos This identifies the mobile operating system of the respondent. Based off dcua variable.
start_date The start date of the respondent. Local server time.
source Usually blank but usually populated when used with campaign manager.
ipAddress The IP address of respondent.
vdecLang Hidden variable used with multi-language surveys to track the respondent’s survey language shown.
decLang Similar to vdecLang, just saved as a "text/string" variable type.
list Similar to vlist, just saved as a "text/string" variable type.
userAgent Variable that stores the useragent of the browser/operating system.
dcua Variable that stores the useragent of the mobile device category/operating system.
session Variable that stores the cookie that was set for the respondent.
url Variable that stores the URL the respondent entered the survey with.
