What are the regional blurring rules for InterVu archives?

FocusVision applies blurring to certain research archives based on regional privacy laws. Here’s a breakdown of the most commonly impacted markets:

  • Europe: The archive for all European webcam projects will be blurred to accommodate EU privacy laws. The archives for most European countries are “Conditionally” blurred, meaning that we can unblur the archive once we have received confirmation of respondent consent to do so.

  • Germany: Due to stricter privacy laws in Germany, archives involving respondents on webcam will be “Unconditionally” blurred, meaning that we cannot unblur the archive regardless of respondent consent.

  • Japan: Japanese archives of webcam interviews are “Conditionally” blurred, meaning that we can unblur the archive of webcam interviews once we have received confirmation of respondent consent to do so.

Note: InterVu does not currently offer blurring for live webcam sessions.
